Chan Ho Park - Korean Terrier
Say what?? Chan Ho? Certainly not the Korean star pitcher who turned Los Angeles baseball into Korean flag wavers? Not the the same Chan Ho who pitched in the 2001 All Star game?; absolutely not the Chan Ho who holds a 15 year lifetime Earned Run Average of 4.34. Yes, that Chan Ho. Why? Well here’s why… he’s spent 15 years at the Major League level with his first eight years in Los Angeles (Dodgers, that is). The years of 1994-2001 weren’t the most productive years for the Blue Crew. He then, unceremoniously went to the Texas Rangers where, in 2003, he accomplished an astounding 7.58 ERA. Not bad for an MLB prodigy.
To his credit, Chan Ho has only been with four teams (the Dodgers, twice), and he has a propensity for staying with the same team for multiple years. After spending his first years with the Dodgers, he went to the Texas Rangers and then a shared 06-07 between the Mets and the Padres. In 2008, The Korean Terror went back to the LA Dodgers.
He will, undoubtedly get a Pennant appearance. With a 4-4 win-loss record, why shouldn’t this guy be all the hype? At 35, he gets too many passes. And I believe his time time has passed along time ago (maybe circa 1995). I can’t wait to see his At Bats against the Cubs in the first round.
